01.Title of the project:  Provision of maternal health and SGBV response services to refugees from northern Rakhaine state Myanmar

Description of the project:

RTM International is currently working in kutupalong extension camp ,using the financial support of UNHCR and technical support of IRC to improve access of the refugee women and girls to critical, lifesaving GBV response services and sexual, reproductive, Maternal and neonatal health services so as to reduce morbidity and mortality. RTMI has established one Comprehensive Women and Girl’s Centre (CWC) and two Integrated Women and Girl’s Centre (IWC) in DD and CC zone of the refugee camp to provide health services and to protect the crisis affected women and girls in a safe, dignified and confidential manner. In addition to CWC, a separate health post is established to avail the delivery of primary health care services to the catchment population. These services are for women and girls only and are opened to all women and girls. The centers have a uniquely female staff to ensure they are safe spaces for women and girls, to ensure comfort and discretion in accessing the services they need and most importantly, to allow women and girls to regularly visit the centers. We provide GBV case management, crisis counseling, psychosocial support and mental health care, risk reduction, safety planning and information provision and community outreach engagement. Through these centers health services including maternal and newborn care, clinical care for sexual assault survivors, treatment for STI, family planning, post abortion care menstrual regulation, Nutrition and others services are provided by RTMI.


02.Title of the project: Providing Essential Service Package (ESP) services in Ukhiya and Teknaf Upazilla of Bangladesh.

Description of the project:

RTM International has started implementing a project titled "Providing Essential Service Package (ESP) services in Teknaf and Ukhiya Upazilas of Bangladesh" on January 01,2018. The project has been sponsored by the UNICEF, Dhaka office. The targeted people of this project are women, adolescents and children. Under the project, RTM carries out two broad activities in Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas of Bangladesh: (a) Provision of ESP to the Rohingya refugees in the selected camps in Ukhiya through two PHCs and four HPs; and (b) enhancement of capacity of five UHFWCs and twelve CCs located in two upazilas, Ukhiya and Teknaf, so that the facilities can provide health care to a larger number of clients from both refugees and local population and quality of care is improved. The output of the project are use of facility based comprehensive health care services, increased capacity for delivery of ESP of public health facilities and service providers, and to provide effective referral. The specific activities under this project are as follows:


All 6 facilities have been constructed and they have started full-fledged functioning from May 2018.
A large manpower including 14 doctors and 36 midwives/nurses have been employed.
Trainings have been imparted on Safe delivery and Newborn care, Reproductive Health Services, Family Planning, AMTSL, IP, GBV, IMCI and Child Health.
Provision of services to the Rohingya refugees in the camps started, even before construction of the facilities was completed, through the makeshift arrangements. From May onwards all services are provided from the constructed facilities.
Some services are provided to the villages adjacent to the Rohingya camps through 8 community health volunteers (CHV) who have been selected from among the local people.
In the selected public health facilities in Teknaf and Ukhiya, one midwife and one CHV have been employed for each. Some other imputes needed to strengthen the facilities will be supplied soon.
Besides, two roving teams, each consisting of one doctor and one midwife, have been working in Teknaf and Ukhiya upazilas to provide support to the service providers.



03.Title of the project: Providing Essential Service Package (ESP) services in selected Forcedly Displaced Myanmar National (FDMN) locations of Cox’s Bazar District.

Description of the project:

Currently, over 507,000 undocumented Myanmar Nationals have newly fled from the Rakhine State to the Southern part of Bangladesh due to brutal violence and massacre hitting those people. In response to this sudden and grave humanitarian crisis, RTMI in close coordination with IOM agrees to provide Essential Service Package (ESP) services in selected Forcedly Displaced Myanmar National (FDMN) locations of Cox’s Bazar District. The project is planning to cover 40,000 FDMN and host population by establishing one PHC and two HPs involving medical doctors, nurse/midwives, supervisors, counselors supported by a community based network of volunteers, who will be developed as trained community health volunteers (CHVs) through mentoring and training support throughout the project period. The goal of this emergency initiative is to improve health, population and nutritional outcomes in Myanmar FDMNs now residing in Cox’s Bazar district through sustainable integrated and comprehensive services provided and managed in a coordinated health delivery system. The specific objective is to increase access to comprehensive health care services delivery and referrals for the FDMNs/forcibly displaced population from Myanmar now in Bangladesh.


04.Title of the project: Comprehensive SHE Services to the Marginalized Population through RTM (Ensuring Reproductive Health (RH) Service Delivery in Nayapara and Kutupalong Refugee Areas)

Description of the project:

RTM International has been working in two official Myanmer refugee camps since April, 2008 with the support from UNFPA. Along with these 2 camps RTM International is currently working in above 4 kutupalong extension camps, and also providing support to the GoB facilities mentioned above. The total work is being implemented with technical and financial support from UNFPA. Through this project RTM International is providing maternal health (Safe delivery, ANC/PNC) and new born care services, referral of the complicated cases for CEmONC, clinical management to the victims of Rape including PEP, operated Adolescents and Youth corners in both official camps, comprehensive FP services, BCC activities through block level awareness raising sessions, capacity building activities, distributed RH-kits supplied by UNFPA. All the services mentioned are implemented through 6 PHCs. All the project activities are managed by a Community Based Outreach Network (CBON) which is responsible for maintaining links between the community people and the service facilities for receiving services and referral to the higher facilities for comprehensive management. Besides the camps RTM International is deployed midwives in above GoB facilities for providing safe motherhood and neonatal care services. Through this project RTM is also providing support to the GoB facilities in Moheshkhali, Kutubdia of Cox’s Bazar district and Flood affected areas of Jamalpur and Dinajpur districts.
